Adult content creators earn an average of $58,700 annually from their work, or about $5,000 per month, according to a new survey from adult industry research firm SWR Data. The figure contrasts with previous estimates suggesting much lower earnings across the industry.
The State of the Creator survey, conducted in fall 2025, included responses from more than 550 adult creators. SWR Data is a research firm that specializes in collecting and analyzing data about the adult entertainment industry, including economic trends, creator demographics, and market dynamics.
The research found that 35 percent of creators rely entirely on adult work for income, while 51 percent earn additional income outside the adult industry.
Experience significantly impacts earnings within the sector. Newer creators earn approximately $16,000 annually on average, while those working in the industry for five years or more see average earnings of $74,000.
Creators who have worked exclusively in adult content for five or more years reported the highest earnings, averaging more than $111,000 annually. The research identified time spent in the industry as the strongest correlation with higher income levels.
The survey results provide a different perspective from 2024 data suggesting OnlyFans creators averaged just $1,300 per year. That earlier figure was calculated based on platform-reported numbers rather than direct creator surveys.
SWR Data noted that while various factors influence creator earnings, industry tenure remains the most significant predictor of income. The firm emphasized that top earners represent a small percentage of creators and do not reflect typical industry earnings.
