In its current initial stage, the foundation is focused on helping underprivileged children, with some emphasis on elder adults. Their child sponsor plan allows donors to provide necessities like food, education, healthcare and even recreation.
We reached out to AJ Studios to learn more about Fundación Liam and what models and other members of the cam space can do to get involved.
YNOT Cam: What prompted you to start the foundation?
AJ Studios: For many years, we have been helping some local orphanages and kids from poor areas, as well as elderly people in care homes. So we thought it will be a good idea to make it formal and also get other people involved in this project. Since we have so many connections with webcam models and studios in Colombia, we think they can contribute to the cause too.
How do you select the children who benefit? How are you connecting funds with beneficiaries?
The foundation manager searches for poor kids who are not getting any help or support from the government. She gets the leads from churches, community leaders and other organizations. Once there’s a list of prospects, she visits the kid’s home in person to make sure they need the help.
Right now, the funding is coming from ourselves — AJ Studios — and our employees donate also. At the moment, the funds are used on the sponsor program and for donations in money and supplies to different causes. Everything is documented and meets local compliance to prove the money is going to the beneficiaries.
Can fans or members sponsor a child or make a donation in a model’s name/honor?
That’s an idea we are working to implement in the near future.
What do volunteer opportunities involve?
Donations on money, medicines, clothes, school supplies or joining our team to deliver the donations to our sponsored kids or elderly care homes. Also, volunteering work in some cases.
Fundación Liam is currently in Phase 1. What will future phases look like?
The short term goal is to get more companies and people involved on this so we can come up with projects of bigger impact. By example, one project we want to launch is a business incubator and training center where we will educate and fund different business projects that will help families improve their economic situation and quality of life.
The foundation will have a booth at the LALEXPO in February 2018, which is attended every year by thousands of international models, businesses and personalities. Their goal therein is to provide information and invite attendees to contribute to the project, increasing global awareness of Colombia’s needs, as well as contributing to a positive impression overall.
“The models are also really excited to help the lives of the children. It is something they feel very passionate about,” said Juan Carlos, President of AJ Studios. “It is also a chance for them personally, and our industry too, to demonstrate that the morals and ethics of our profession are positive and should be taken seriously and respected.”
Fundación Liam’s NIT — Números de Identificación Tributaria, which are Colombian business tax numbers – is 901.093.453-1. To contribute and learn more, visit the foundation’s website here.
