When New Year greets us, we know we should feel different, fresher, happier, and positive!
Doesn’t it suck when we don’t?
The truth is the turn of the digits on the calendar means nothing, it’s just a number.
You’re no different waking up in January 2024 than going to bed in December 2023. So, if 2024 hasn’t done squat to change your negative attitude about camming, you’re not alone.
But you do need to something about it if you want to have the successful year you’re hoping for.
Asking some pointed questions about your career can help.
1. Why are you camming?
If you’re only doing it because of money, you can’t bear the thought of going back to a 9-5, or you feel like you’re trapped and can’t do anything else, 2024 will not be any better than 2023.
You either need to work hard to find a way out and make that your goal (just the mere thought of changing careers, and focusing on that can make one happier), stop putting roadblocks in your way that you’re stuck (you’re not, you just need to commit to change), or you need to have a better reason for camming.
2. What is your positive reason for camming?
The thrill of performing? Connection with fans? Being the center of attention?
Whatever it is, dig deep and get a positive reason for camming. Get in touch with WHAT you truly enjoy about it and concentrate on that, not what you WANT from it but what you LOVE. We forget our happiness when we chase the end result… and ironically when we’re happy the end result is often achieved without even trying.
3. Why are you down on camming?
Turn those parts of your job that you hate upside down and find new creative ways to enjoy them.
Are you sick of the drudgery of showing up to cam? Get some new lights, new decorations, use a different room, create a brand-new show and you’ll find yourself rejuvenated.
Grumbling about all the new content you have to come up with? Maybe you’re stuck in a rut of the same ole same ole. Variety is the spice of life, so try some new things and you may find yourself excited again to cam.
Hate doing social media? Check in with the fact that every post gets you closer to what you want and take your time with it. Share content you are proud of – you’ll get better reactions and that alone can make you feel more positive about the necessity of doing it.
Sick of talking to people? You need to commune with being grateful for your fans, and also being selective with who you talk to.
4. How do you get back to the joy to cam?
See Number 2!
Focus only on your positive reason for camming. Keep coming back to that when you start spiraling into what it can do for you instead of why you do it. When you continually check in with your passion, positivity will return, fans will respond, and 2024 will turn out to be the new beginning you had hoped for.
