You’ve probably heard of Switter and Slixa, but what about Sharesome? This platform may be a bit more lucrative than you expect for building your brand.
What is Sharesome?
Sharesome is, according to their Twitter account, “the world’s first free adult social network.” Info from the developers’ section of their site also say it’s “a suite of widgets that helps you to grow your audience by making it easy for your visitors to comment or share your page using the Like Button.”
After signing up, the content you post as a “Star” can be engaged with in several ways. “Likes” help promote you to a wider audience and “Flame Tokens” can be given to you as tips for your content. Those tokens can then be used to purchase post promotions on the site.
Sharesome focuses more on the social media aspect of sex work online, rather than the camming aspect. You may not make a lot of money through tips on Sharesome, but you can direct users to your other sites and gain popularity.
The Pros of Using Sharesome
Here are some benefits to using Sharesome, as I see them.
There are no regulations that prevent you from advertising your other sites.
If you have your own website or work through other paysites or camsites, Sharesome doesn’t try to mute the advertisement of competitor sites. In fact, they encourage you to link to your other sites to further improve and grow your fanbase. Once you’re verified, everything you post is automatically linked to your predefined paysite.
The usability is fire.
This website is so unbelievably user-friendly and easy to navigate. It looks almost identical to Twitter, so you have a clean and simple profile to work with. It’s very easy for fans to follow you as well and you have the ability to follow other creators that you’re a fan of or collaborate with.
You have full control over your content.
You can post videos, status updates, photos and animated GIFs with ease. There are no rules or regulations for the content you post, except for the basics that almost all camsites require.
You can join the Sharesome Friends & Family program for some extra rewards.
You must be verified and have a very active social media presence as a cam model elsewhere. If you are accepted into the program, Sharesome gives you a lump sum of tokens for free and promote your profile with ads on the site and on Sharesome’s Twitter account.
The Cons of Using Sharesome
Nothing is without cons though, including Sharesome. Here are some downsides to the platform to consider.
Promoting posts can get expensive.
Sharesome Ads and post promotion cost tokens, and you’ll probably have to spend those tokens to get a substantial amount of followers, especially if you’re a new cam model with an already small fanbase.
You can’t make money with Sharesome.
According to Sharesome’s FAQ, “We don’t pay you for your content. But we are designed to drive sales to your sites from the promoted link under your posts. You can also promote everything else on your profile and in your posts. While you are building your brand on Sharesome, you can earn FLAME TOKEN as tips from your fans.”
No matter how many Flame Tokens you make, you can only use them to purchase things in-site, and they cannot be converted to actual money.
The verification process is tricky.
Of course, any sex work site requires that you verify your age and identity. Still, it’s a pain in the butt. You’ll have to have all the info to prove your content is yours, including 2257, ID-shots, model release paperwork, etc. Don’t expect to be up and running within a day.
We Say: Try it!
Despite the cons, this social media platform is certainly worth checking out, whether you’re new to the industry or a seasoned pro. Even though you can’t make actual cash with it, it’s a great way to promote your content from other sites to a wider audience.
It’s free to sign up as a creator or patron, so what do you have to lose?
