For those of us that have been in the industry for a minute, we’ve all experienced the lows of slow periods online. This can be extremely frustrating and definitely bring us down, especially when you put so much time and effort into your shows. Unfortunately, slow periods occur — and not always when you expect them. And for those among us who haven’t expereinced this yet… Well, it’s coming.
But have no fear! There are ways to monetize your down time and keep yourself from getting antsy or anxious when the slump times occur.
Downtime on cams is unavoidable. Even the most popular models face periods where it seems like no one comes into their room – or, when their room seems filled with guys who don’t want to pay or even chat. Accepting this inevitability, acknowledging that it’s not you (most of the time) and preparing to make use of this time is key to sustaining your sanity and maintaining your income.
Without further ado, here’s some advice!
1. Tell everyone you are LIVE
How you promote your cam shows can be a part of why you are not experiencing high traffic or conversions to sales. Promote yourself with text blasts, photos and videos on social media and even PG pictures on Flickr, Facebook, etc.
Making sure you are taking every step necessary to get the word out to all your fans and followers that you are live can be important to the outcome of your work shift.

2. Use your time wisely
You picked out a theme, put on your outfit or costume, dolled up and even set up your cam space to go along with your theme. You log on, and it’s deader than a cemetery online.
Of course, you are frustrated because you spent all this time and energy into having a great cam night and the universe isn’t complying with your efforts — but there is hope for you after all.
Keep the cams going, but divert that attention to taking photos, recording videos and even taking sexy snaps for your snapchat premium members. If you find your room picks up, of course redirect that attention to the room. But in the meantime, you are creating sellable content to use on either your cam site(s), clip stores, website or anywhere you sell your content.
Personally, I take any time I am dolled up — whether on cams or shooting or even a night on the town — to grab content to sell. Customers often love amateur impromptu shots that reveal a little bit of your personal life and unscripted reality.
3. Go LIVE… elsewhere
I know you are already live on the cam site, but go live on Periscope or Instagram. YouTube even offers a live service. Engage with your fan base on other sites and invite them into your cam show.
Of course, follow and obey the rules and terms of service of whatever platform you are live on so that you don’t get your accounts disabled or banned. General clothed chat asking people to come join you in your room is a great way to promote yourself and kill some time.

4. Be creative
One of the things I have found to be relaxing, as well as helpful to me in terms of getting through slow times, is doing creative things on cam.
Slow times are great times to seize a moment to fix something or work on an art project or even color in a coloring book. The great thing is you may find a customer that is interested in your art work or whatever you are working on and want to actually buy it! Although that isn’t always the case, this strategy is a great way to pass the time until you fill your room or have that one great customer take you private or tip you tokens.
5. Multitask other projects
I have multiple income streams, and I can always be working on another when times are slow online.
For instance, I always keep my phone sex line live to accept calls generally at any time. Lowering your rates to run specials during these cam lows can help you drum up some activity and make money at the same time. The same is true for texting services and other minimal-attention-needed services.
6. Create marketing and promotional materials
Creative marketing tools and promotional materials will help generate additional traffic to your room and could help you with sales for other products. Use the time you have while it’s slow to create GIF images, short promo videos and other marketing materials to use for your cams or other stores and products.
7. Edit videos
Hey, everyone needs time to edit videos, and this is a great way to spend those slow periods of boredom. Editing can be a tedious and time-consuming job. When cams are not busy, you will have plenty of time to catch up on your editing.
8. Write scripts for videos and blogs
I never seem to have enough time to write full concepts and scripts for videos, or even blogs for that matter. Running your own business can keep you pretty busy and sitting down to focus on one particular concept or blog is a task that I rarely can manage to accomplish. Utilize this time to work on your writing and blogging!

Well, that about sums it up.
You can’t avoid the cam slump. It’s bound to happen to all of us at some point. These ideas are just a few ways you can keep yourself busy and out of the slump that drop a in income and attention from customers can create.
